Amp’d Mobile with a bad decision

We talked about Amp’d Mobile’s entry into the prepaid market last week, and I was hopeful that Amp’d would help make the prepaid arena a little more competitive. However, they’re already doing some price gouging:
After writing about Amp’d Mobile’s new prepaid offering this week, here’s a rather sneaky addition they’ve also added into Amp’d service: a 25% surcharge on all data features, both postpaid and prepaid.
Just a dumb, shortsighted decision by Amp’d. This does nothing but create bad feelings on the part of the consumer, who purchase a phone and some prepaid minutes from Amp’d, only to be hit with unexpected charges later on. Not a good business practice.
The first company that treats prepaid customers like they’re worth a damn will make a lot of money.
