Verizon Teaming Up With Bones In Motion

This is the kind of thing I’m looking into and thinking of getting. I’ve never been a fan of gadgets that try to be everything to everyone, but a phone that can track workouts would be pretty handy.

Verizon is partnering wtih Bones in Motion. BIM utilizes GPS technology to record things like speed, distance, calories burned, and pace.

Engadget Mobile says that Verizon will be offering the service on the Samsung SCH-A930 / SCH-A990, LG Chocolate (VX8500), and Motorola’s V325 and RAZR V3c / V3m at first.

The major downside to the service is that it requires a $9.99 monthly fee (or a $1.99 24 hour fee, which Engadget Mobile points out might be useful for something like running a marathon). That fee seems even higher when you consider that Apple has a free service that does essentially the same thing.

But that being said, it’s still great to see this kind of tech out there. I actually find something like this a lot more useful than an mp3 playing phone, but that might just be me.
